Buddhists stole my clarinet... and I'm still as mad as Hell about it! How did a small-town boy from the Midwest come to such an end? And what's he doing in Rhode Island by way of Chicago, Pittsburgh, and New York? Well, first of all, it's not the end YET! Come back regularly to find out. (Plant your "flag" at the bottom of the page, and leave a comment. Claim a piece of Rhode Island!) My final epitaph? "I've calmed down now."

Is Palin Committing Hate Crimes in Her Speeches

A simple question. With Palin's untrue comments, which are obviously meant to stir wild emotions in people with marginal personalities... If something were to happen terrible as a result of someone incited by these speeches... would she and McCain be prosecuted for hate crimes? Lesser people have been convicted of such things by doing much less.

The comments have taken us away from the topics and incited people to shout such things about a U.S. Senator as "traitor" and "kill him". All, while Palin addressed a convention of a party that wants to secede from Alaska, and one to which her husband belonged.

This is the most abominable exhibition of incitement in my entire life. It's a relief that Obama has not chosen to incite his followers thusly.

The media, such as all of the Fox shows, Joe Scarborough and a few other shows on MSNBC... when they say "go tougher"... are feeding this type of hate.

There are two choices here for Palin and two for the media, if they consider youself other than a pundit.

For Palin - 1) dial it back and make immediate statements strongly rebuking these responses, or 2) keep it up.

For the media, 1) quit discussing the hate speeches and strongly show you disdain for such comments, or 2) continue reporting it and feeding the hate reactions of "kill him".

If the media, and Palin and McCain go for option (1) in both cases, this ugly hate will be dialed back, which will make us a better country with a press that reports facts not innuendo and politicians who are up to debating substance.

Or they can both go with (2), in which case, you both are bringing up the possibility that something very bad will happen to someone as a result of the fringe elements getting "whipped up" by this hate frenzy.

McCain.. Palin... stop the hate speeches reminiscent of Nazi Germany. And disavow those comments that your followers have started to shout. Will you?... You can't pretend you haven't hear them anymore. They're all over the news. If you're that insulated, then I am even more afraid.

As for reaching across the aisle? After this display... please! Don't show such little regard of us as citizens and voters.
